TIMBERLAND X HUMBERTO LEON FUTURE73 6 INCH BOOT

FUTURE73 PROJECT CALLS ON SIX GLOBAL FUTURE MAKERS TO REIMAGINE THE ICONIC BOOT AND CATALYZE IT INTO THE FUTURE AS PART OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

LEON BRINGS FUNCTIONAL BOLD STYLE TO THE TIMBERLAND® X HUMBERTO LEON FUTURE73 COLLECTION

OCTOBER 10, 2023: Today, Timberland launches the next of its Future73 collaborations, in partnership with Los Angeles-based designer, retailer, creative director, and restaurateur, Humberto Leon. The Timberland® x Humberto Leon Future73 Collection reimagines The Original Timberland® Boot and reinvents outdoor protection with an apparel capsule that modernizes the brand’s heritage style.

To Leon, Timberland represents function, protection, and longevity – qualities he drew upon in creating the Timberland® x Humberto Leon Future73 6-Inch Boot.

“I’ve been a part of Timberland’s story for some time now. I always want Timberland’s rich history to be at the core of what we’re working with; the brand has always been about functional protective wear, and I love that as the basis,” said Humberto Leon. “My first memory of Timberland is the 6-inch Boot so reimagining it has been really exciting; to have the freedom to create something from scratch and celebrate such a big chapter for the brand. Timberland has managed to create strong staples that you cannot imagine life without.”

For this project, Leon sought to reinvent outdoor protection with heritage style, precision, and comfort, creating a 6-inch Boot with an exaggerated rubber outsole and wrap for a bold and original look. The soles are made using a durable recycled rubber, paired with an anti-fatigue footbed for bounce and comfort. The dual-branded hangtag (referred to as the “badoink”) doubles as a pouch, for added functionality. Complementing the boot is the All-Gender 6-Inch Puff Shoe—an entirely new silhouette featuring a nylon ripstop upper and 400-grams of insulation.

With an aim to design “the perfect trans-seasonal wardrobe for traveling the world,” Leon created a number of convertible, zip-off styles for the ultimate in versatility and function for the outdoors.

The Humberto Leon Future73 capsule comprises seven garments in total including the Black 5-in-1 Jacket, which is fully waterproof yet has removable sleeves and a hood as well as a zip-off hem that can be converted into a cross-body bag. The Convertible Pants have zip-off legs transforming them into shorts for warmer climates, plus an oversized Taslan drawcord and contrasting reinforcement panels. Both designs feature 3D pocketing for ample storage.

Rounding out the apparel is the Rugby Funnel Neck Sweatshirt in black or a Cropped version in ‘wheat boot,’ both with oversized Taslan drawcord fastening; a mixed media Hoodie in ‘wheat boot’ with embroidered logo and quilted hood; a black Tee with printed graphic and contrast piping, and Sweatpants in black or 'wheat boot' with woven quilted knee panels and an adjustable hem.

The Timberland® x Humberto Leon Future73 Collection ranges from $40-$350 and is available October 10 at timberland.com, Timberland® stores and select specialty retailers worldwide.

ABOUT FUTURE73

Since the birth of The Original Timberland® Boot in 1973, the brand has been obsessed with pioneering new ideas and forging new frontiers. From its groundbreaking waterproof leather boot to its signature four rows of stitching, Timberland built boot culture.

With a passion for design and culture at its core, Timberland invited a team of future makers from around the world to reimagine its icon and legacy. Crafted through their own lens of bold innovation and catalyzing the icon into the future. The project is called Future73.

In partnership with Timberland’s design team, these six innovators—including Samuel Ross, Nina Chanel Abney, Edison Chen, Humberto Leon, Christopher Raeburn, and Suzanne Oude Hengel—have created a window into the past, reimagined for the worlds ahead. It’s our legacy, their vision.
