Reinforces the yellow boot’s status as a mainstay on the global fashion scene through a series of authentic activations and collaborations
PARIS, FRANCE, JANUARY 22, 2024: Over the past 50 years, The Original Timberland® Boot has been adopted by cultures and communities across the globe. This fashion week season, the brand brought its own energy and culture directly to the most revered fashion city in the world, Paris.
To celebrate the connectivity between lifestyle and fashion, Timberland authentically immersed itself in Parisian culture throughout Paris Fashion Week. Activating where the locals organically wander to soak up the energy of this iconic event, Timberland payed tribute to the City of Love through larger-than-life billboards, fly posters, retail windows, and nighttime projections—all in the brand’s signature wheat color. With a clever subversion of the iconic French phrase je t’aime, JE T’IMBS takes us from the streets of New York City, where the term Timbs was first coined, to the streets of Paris.
For the first time ever, Timberland walked several runways during Paris Fashion Week, ranging from luxury to street to outdoor lifestyle. Exploring the origins of workwear and craftsmanship, iconic global luxury house Louis Vuitton on Tuesday (1/16) revealed a collaboration with Timberland that reinterprets American work boots through the creative lens of Louis Vuitton and the savoir faire of its Italian factories. On Wednesday (1/17), Wales Bonner debuted custom runway-only, silver embellished Timberland Premium 6-inch boots. And on Saturday (1/20), the new Timberland Motion Scramble Hiker as well as a Chelsea Boot walked the White Mountaineering show, playing into themes of travel, movement, and creativity.
On Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th January, Timberland took over Parisian coffee haunt, Recto Verso. The brand transformed the intimate space, adding subtle touches of Americana that married seamlessly with the quintessentially Parisian aesthetic. Over the two-day takeover, patrons experienced a mini-immersion of Timberland’s culture, as well as co-branded coffee cups and complimentary Recto Verso biscoitos.
And finally, tapping into the vibrant Paris nightlife scene, Timberland sponsored the highly anticipated PDPOOL after-party on Thursday, January 18th, which kicked off at midnight. Performers for the evening, including Stephane Ashpool, ASAP Nast, Kim Turnball, and Ciesay, all sported yellow Timbs for the occasion.
Throughout the week, from from the front rows of the shows to the Paris streets, celebrities, authenticators, and other notables were spotted everywhere wearing the unmistakable yellow boot.
“On the heels of our 50th anniversary, I cannot think of a more exciting way to kick off the new year and keep the momentum behind our yellow boot going,” said Maisie Willoughby, chief marketing officer for Timberland. “The energy of Paris Fashion Week is unrivaled—not only on the runways, but also out in the streets. We’re excited to tap into this moment to celebrate Paris, fashion, and the cultures and communities that have been part of the Timberland journey. Je T’imbs!”
The Original Timberland® Boot’s worldwide adoption has made a lasting impact on the brand and the fashion industry alike. In the ‘80s, the boot’s laidback Americana style was prevalent in Milan, while it became a staple for UK ravers in the ‘90s and in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, which embodied creativity and innovation in the fashion world. Timberland’s deepest connection has been with hip-hop culture, which is largely credited with making Timberland a bold force in both pop culture and street style.
